About Harrison’s Solicitors

Harrison’s Solicitors first opened its doors in Reading in 2003 when founder and senior partner Ashley Harrison decided he wanted to offer a personal and local service to families in Reading. In 2013, Ashley was joined by David Woodward as Partner with the opening of the third Harrison’s office in Caversham.

Whilst property law may not be considered fancy or particularly exciting, buying a house is one of the most expensive and important decisions many people will ever make. It therefore isn’t something anyone wants to take a risk with. At Harrison’s Solicitors we are proud to provide comprehensive advice and assistance on all aspects of domestic property law to ensure your transaction is uneventful and runs smoothly.

Our decades of experience in Reading and the surrounding area mean we have the local knowledge as well as legal expertise to provide you with the best possible service. From conveyancing through to wills and probate, you can count on us to help you buy, sell or re-mortgage a property and make sure it gets passed on to the right person when the time comes. And, with three local offices situated in Reading, Woodley and Caversham you can rest assured that our support and advice is never far away.

Our People

Ashley Harrison
Solicitor & Senior Partner

Work: I founded Harrison’s Solicitors in 2003 with a view to providing a friendly informal service to the public while at the same time retaining high standards and professionalism. The firm has grown significantly since the early days when I was by myself. We now have over 12 highly trained and motivated staff working in three different offices. My role as senior partner is to ensure that we maintain high standards of professionalism and customer service while nurturing the staff to achieve their full potential.

Play: I am married with two children and a dog. When not working I enjoy walking the dog and sailing.

David Woodward
Solicitor & Partner

Work: David joined Harrison’s solicitors in 2013 as Partner. He heads up the Caversham office, managing a small team who love helping people to achieve their aspirations; whether that is buying or selling their home, re-mortgaging, investing in property or securing their family’s future with a will. David has worked in Conveyancing since 2002 and also assists clients with wills and probate matters.

Play: David has been married to his wife Charlotte since 2007. They have a daughter, Matilda, born in 2011. When David isn’t being kept busy by his ‘little mate’ (as he affectionately calls Matilda) and his chocolate Labrador Button, he likes to run and cycle. He runs the 5k park run every Saturday and is slowly working his way around the UK (and Europe!) doing the park runs held in different towns and cities. He also does various charity events, including the odd half and full marathon and recently completed the New Forest 100 mile bike ride.

James Westwood
Conveyancing Executive

Work: James Joined Harrisons in October 2013 as a Conveyancing Legal Assistant after working for two large Estate Agency chains within the Thames Valley and Home Counties over a period of 8 years. James is based within our Castle Street office and was recently promoted to Conveyancing Executive after acquiring Associate Member status (ACILEx) with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.

Outside of work James strives to be a loving father to his 3 sons, Cameron, 12, Alfie, 6 and Noah,1. Cameron currently plays football for Burghfield FC and James can be regularly found running up and down the touchline as the clubs designated linesman on a Saturday morning. Outside of family life James likes to unwind by playing Golf, going to the Gym, meeting up with friends or watching football.

Louise Teuton
Conveyancing Executive

Work: Louise has worked in the legal environment for over twenty-five years and joined Harrison’s Solicitors Reading Office in 2003 and was later asked to assist with the opening and running of the Woodley Office in 2010 which she continues to do within the friendly approachable team. Having worked in different areas of law over the years such as conveyancing, probate and litigation, Louise has now settled on Conveyancing and enjoys liaising with clients and assisting them through the conveyancing process, especially helping first-time buyers fulfil their dream of owning their first home.

Play: Louise grew up in and around Henley, is married to Shaun and together they have daughter Clara. Louise enjoys “thinking” about exercise more than doing it but does attempt Zumba and cycling. Louise enjoys walking her dog Fred, socialising and is interested in film and art especially surrealism and portrait drawing which she likes to do in her spare time.

Anjali Gurung
Conveyancing Assistant

Work: Anjali joined Harrison’s Caversham office in January 2018. Her role as Conveyancing Assistant includes assisting fee earners with their workload, providing quotes, answering phones, drafting documents and assisting clients with any queries that they may have. Anjali enjoys dealing with clients directly and recognises that moving in general (whether as a first time buyer or repurchasing) can be a very stressful period so she always goes the extra mile make the transaction go as smoothly as possible. Anjali is studying for CILEX Level 6.

Play: Outside of work Anjali enjoys meeting friends, travelling, and spending time with her nephew.

Warren Rutherford
Conveyancer

Work: Warren entered the legal profession in the mid 80s and has over 30 years’ experience in residential conveyancing, operating in Reading throughout that time. He has a no-nonsense approach to ensure transactions move with haste and that the client is always in the loop throughout. Warren has built up a large following throughout the years acting for old clients, their onward family and friends as well as being recommended by Estate Agents and Brokers.

Play: Warren now lives in Oxfordshire, but was originally born in Reading, where his parents still reside. Strong family roots are retained in Edinburgh and as such Warren likes to get back “home” as often as is possible. Warren is married to Carole, a GP Practice Manager. In his spare time, apart from walking Dudley his dog, he follows Liverpool FC passionately, plays golf, travels and dabble in a little cooking!
